Why I love Cleveland...

One of the many reasons I love Cleveland is for the sports. Everybody knows Cleveland is full of die-hard fans, itching for any kind of championship. Not only are the Cavs going to take it all (knock on wood) because the team is that good, but they are filled with some funny ass dudes i.e. Shaq, LeBron, and now Delonte West. This video will never get old.

Moon Shoes!!!

It don't get any more early 90's than this! Me and my brother C.J. used to have a pair of these and when we got them we thought they were the coolest things ever. Little did we know that they were going to break within a week or two! A bunch of the black rubberbands just started snapping on us, haha.

And for some reason just seeing this reminded me of the Pogo Ball.

Check out the line up he has for this year... and tickets were only $6.00!

Richard Jefferson no show for wedding???

Well we have become TMZ now, not really but I thought this was funny when I seen it. Apparently Richard Jefferson decided to call off his wedding with his fiance Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols days before the wedding. The only problem is the guest's were not informed and showed up to the wedding wondering where the bride and groom were. Come to find out that the wedding had been canceled leaving them with no wedding nor explanation. Although he did give his friend his Amex Black credit card and told him to take out the guests and show them a good time without him there. Take a look at the two together below.

Vans x Acapulco Gold Vans Moda Hi Sneakers

Vans combining with Acapulco Gold will be releasing these Moda Hi's next March. No specific time given or price. As soon as I spotted these it was an instant post and purchase. The color way is perfect, with a nice green and grey combination. Although I am a fan of the classic low top, the Hi design will work just fine for me, take a look below.

Here we present an exclusive look into the second part of Vans’ upcoming East vs. West Pack, which will feature design efforts from Los Angeles-based Crooks & Castles and New York natives Acapulco Gold. This latest installment finds AG working on a pair of the newly developed Moda Hi model, fusing the classic SK8-Hi and more fashion-forward Mountain Edition Hi. The kicks boast a mix of suede and leather uppers on a clean white/green colorway, with various Acapulco Gold details throughout. A release is scheduled for March 2010.

Summer 09 cont...

Ok, so you have seen the tees but we also did our custom cut and sew button ups for the summer as well. Both are short sleeve, one blue and one red. As you can see in the pics we did our custom two color buttons... green for the red button up and red for the blue button up. The blue button up is also made out of seersucker which gives the fabric a nice soft texture. You can find our tees and button ups in Heart and Sole, Next (Beachwood) and our tees in Martini Skate and Snow. Web store being updated soon. Kingsransomclothing.com

Back from the dead!!!

Ok so we have been slacking lately but we're back from the dead and plan on keeping a consistent blog. So I guess we will start with our Summer line. These are the two tees we did for Summer 09... the lime green is our logo and filled inside are a bunch of crazy little characters, almost similar to something KAWS would do or even Mishka, and no we're not comparing ourselves to these companies although it would be nice since they have done very well. The black tee is the playing card tee and what makes this tee stand out is the use of color and detail put into the king's outfit. Across the back is the Kings Ransom script on both. A special shout out goes out to Jeremy Backo who did the artwork for these tees and will be doing many more we hope. Thanks Jeremy.....

KR artist of the week!! Chester French

This week we shine the spotlight on Star Trak's Chester French. Consisting of Maxwell Drummey and D.A. Wallach, these 2 decided to name the band after sculptor Daniel Chester French (designer of the Lincoln Memorial). Me being the big fan of Pharrell and Star Trak that I am, I discovered them by just hitting up the Star Trak website and checking up on em to see what's new. After reading plenty of interviews with Pharrell and hearing about Chester French frequently, I soon became interested in hearing them. After hearing "She Loves Everybody" I can't wait for the album to drop.
If you're in Cleveland, be sure to hit up the Grog Shop on Coventry May 12 for the Chester French + Lady Sovereign show.

"Bruno" trailer!!!

YES!!! I remember seeing on Yahoo when he was at the fashion show, messing things up. But I did not know it was because he had on a velcro suit, hahaha!! The actual full name is awesomely long, just like Borat's was. The full title is:

Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt

Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius. July 10th can't come soon enough!

KR artist of the week! - The Bird & The Bee

This week, our artist of the week is The Bird & The Bee. We have definitely caught on to everything they have out. Their music is... well I'd call it addicting. Every time I listen to their album I end up listening to it a second time. Inara George, the lead singer, has such a distinctive voice which at times seems monotone, but it goes perfect with their sound. I also seen she is the daughter of Lowell George, who is the founder of a rock band my dad used listen to back in his hey-day called Little Feat... which is a good little tidbit. The song/video I chose to throw up for them is "Love Letter to Japan" off their Ray Guns Are Not Just the Future LP. The album is a definite must hear!

I decided to put up a second video by them, "Polite Dance Song", which is the first song I ever heard by them. I heard it on their Please Clap Your Hands EP awhile ago and it still remains a favorite of mine. Plus, to connect with my last post... the video was directed by Eric Wareheim who is 1/2 of Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! If familiar with the show, look for Palmer Scott aka Mr. This Is What I Do I Sit On You.

Ooh Mama!

If someone were to ask me "Hey Paul, what's your favorite TV show?" Without hesitation I'd say Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! A couple years back I took a class at Kent entitled "Cartoon Network: Adult Swim." Yes, that is a real class, haha. And probably one of the most interesting classes I ever had. At the time, or still is, was/is the only class of it's kind in the country. I could go on about the show or talk about my favorites skits or explain how during every day I use a Tim & Eric reference at least once.... but I won't. All you need to know is Spagett is the shit and I have his poster, the "Chubs" song is a fan favorite of mine, David Liebe Hart is a beast, Richard Dunn gets it done (that's lame haha), and I will see them live before I die.
This past weekend after the Showcase... me, Mooke, and Neil went to my brother's place and finished up the drunken night with Tim & Eric season 2 and we could not stop watching the "Ooh Mama!" skit. Completely insane! Here it is:

That is good tennis!

Local Brand Showcase @ Heart & Sole 3/28/09

Last night was the Local Brand Showcase at Heart & Sole down on Coventry, and you already know Kings Ransom was in attendance. Along with Blessed Label, Another Enemy, Boosters, Since 88 and all the other locals that stopped through with their lines, we set up shop to give a good look at our products that we have available as of now. The turnout was great, the music was great (shout out to Steph Floss), and the other brands were tight and showed nothing but love and respect. Big ups to the homies at Heart & Sole for throwing the event and bringing all the lines together in one place! We gave out a ton of free KR tees to those in attendance, which went over real good. Also, thanks go out to Neil, C.J., Nick, Backo and everyone else that came down to help and support us!
There were so many people taking pictures and video down there that it's going to take a little to gather them all up. So for the time being, I got for you Steph Floss's Vlog Day 14 from eighty81.com, which shows off the event. Soon as we get the pictures from the night, we'll post em.

Where the Wild Things Are - OFFICIAL TRAILER

I seen a preview for this not too long ago... just a snippet... and was more excited for this movie than I have been for any other movie in awhile. I'm sure everyone has read, seen, or heard about this book at one point in their life and now it's finally time for the movie. It looks incredible! Plus, it's directed by Spike Jonze and produced by Tom Hanks! Take a look at the official trailer.

KR Artist of the week!!!

Well following up with Drake as are former artist of the week, this weeks artist is Kenna. Kenna is finally getting his recognition with "Say Goodbye To Love" which was nominated for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in the 2009 Grammy Awards. He has worked with Chad Hugo from the Neptunes on both albums which include New Sacred Cow and Make Sure They See My Face, released in 2007, which is definitely one of our favorites right now. There's no doubt we will be hearing more from Kenna and deservingly so. On that note, without further introduction check out this video from his 07 album Make Sure They See My Face... Enjoy!!!

Kid Cudi interview with Complex

Well in recent interview with Complex magazine, Kid Cudi sat down to discuss the thing that all Cudi fans want to hear about which is his recent claim that he is calling it quits and retiring after his first album drops. As a local Cleveland brand and a big fan of Cudi we hope things turn around for him and he continues with his career. For more info read this interview with Complex via Hypebeast.

Rising Hip-Hop sensation, Kid Cudi recently sat down with Complex’s Joe La Puma for an interesting interview, covering various curious subjects you’ve all been wondering about. Amongst their sit down session, Kid Cudi chats about his highly publicized incident during NBA All-Star Weekend, career expectations and a scoop into the upcoming album. The full interview can be read here.

Kid Cudi on his career expectations

My whole thing is to not to be as big as Kanye or Lil Wayne, but to be bigger. It’s all about progression. If I just set the goal to want to be like Kanye and Lil Wayne, that’s setting my shit to a limit and it’s selling myself short. I’m pretty sure when Kanye was aspiring to do his music, he wasn’t like, I want to be as big as Jay. He was like, Nah, I want to be bigger then Jay. It’s not necessarily saying that you are better than them, it’s just setting that bar. If I never am better then Kanye, in my brain, I’m always going to be trying to be, forever and ever until the day that I die.

…on Reebok situation

It was never about Reebok, the brand or anything like that. Nike don’t always make the dopest shoes, no brand makes dope shit all the time. I was opposed to the shoes they tried to give me—I didn’t like them. I didn’t get into because it was Reebok people, I got into it with one individual who approached me the wrong way. I’m a man at the end of the day. I’m not a fighter, I don’t like violence—hell, I don’t even know if I know how to fight. I’m not a strategic fighter, that’s not my steez. I don’t know how to work a gun if you gave me one, I wouldn’t want to fucking touch it. But at the same time, I ain’t no sucker and I was in a situation where a dude was trying to test me as a man. I let it get to me, but that will never happen again. A nigga want to test me? So what. I will never let anyone rub me the wrong way. It’s something I don’t regret at all. It was something I needed to do at that time. That dude was wrong. I reacted off of his reaction. He interfered in a conversation I was having with two other people. I wasn’t even the first one to put hands on him, my security Zule was. I tell people, he’s always close, he’s not even certified, he’s just a nigga from the hood.

…on New Album

Right now, the name of the album is Man On The Moon, The Guardians. It may change, depending on the features. Right now Snoop is down, he told me his oldest son put him on to my record. Snoop is my favorite artist of all time. He’s someone I look up to. I explained to him the idea of the song and he’s with it. I’m also trying to get Shia Labeouf in my project. I want the album to be as cinematic as possible, and feature people that are great at what they do. We’re both young talents in this game, and I just found out Shia was a fan of my song “Day N’ Night,” and I’m a fan of his. He’s killing shit, I feel like I’m doing the Shia Labeouf in music. We’re working on trying to get him to narrate the story of the album.

Kid Cudi un-retirement

Well many of you who follow Kid Cudi have heard the recent rumor about him wanting to retire because he's sick of the media bullshit and other personal things in his life. FINALLY! Kid Cudi's official "Day N Nite" video

The day has finally come. We've been hip to Cudi for some time now (since we are from Cleveland) and we've always questioned when he will release the video for "Day N Nite."
Today he appeared on 106 & Park alongside Mr. West to premier the video and spit some ish. Peep the Kanye West x Louis Vuitton joints he has on his feet. My favorite part of this video is when Kayne tells the audience not to clap when he does his verse so they can hear what he's saying, haha. Just the way he says it, so seriously... it's halirious. And of course when Cudi shouted out Cleveland was dope too!

Kid Cudi - Day N Nite

This video is so raw! They got the right guy to direct the video, So Me, who also directed "D.A.N.C.E." by Justice... which is one of my favorite videos ever.
Congrats Cudi!

Kobe Bryant's Ankle Insurance Co.

Ever since Kobe signed with Nike, his advertisements for his shoes have been hilarious, especially this one for his Kobe Air Zoom IV. The concept behind it is: if you don't have his new kicks, you need ankle insurance... which is very evident at 0:28 of the video, haha.

And if you did not notice, the horse is not real... which makes the ad 231% better lol.
